Lingual Braces Vs Traditional Braces

Lingual braces cost more than invisalign, clear braces or both. This is because the cost of making the braces is much more. Complexity and treatment time are the most important factor which make lingual braces costlier than other orthodontics. The more complex and long term treatment required is going to make the cost escalate. Lingual braces are relatively new and they have not been around too long.

Lingual braces cost depends on the depth of treatment needed. A treatment such as lingual braces cost much more if it is required to cover more than just one tooth. The cost also rises with the degree of treatment required. If the orthodontist wants to give the wearer a corrective treatment covering more teeth then the cost goes up. The same applies to braces which are being fitted for multiple teeth in a row.

It is not just the cost of the braces that increases when more teeth are involved but also the length of the treatment, the number of teeth in the row and the extent of correction required. A lingual braces cost is generally higher than an inline braces cost because inlays are more difficult to remove. The length of the treatment can also be longer for self-ligating braces. Self-ligating braces are cheaper but they do not give the same correction as inline braces do. These are the main differences between the two types.

There is a misconception that people with a deep overbite cannot get braces. However this is not true, as many people get braces even with a deep overbite. So there is no reason why anyone should have a deep overbite to get braces. In case of a lingual braces cost, the cost goes up because of the extra services that the orthodontist has to provide.

Some people may have a crooked smile due to poor alignment or the muscles in the jaw are too weak. In this case, the orthodontist has to make an extra effort to correct the alignment by using inlays on the teeth. This is one of the reasons why a Lingual braces cost is slightly more than an inline treatment. Also since the bones of the lower jaw have to keep pace with the growth of the upper teeth, this treatment is more difficult than in other cases.

Another reason why an orthodontist charges more for these treatments is that traditional metal braces are made from plastic and these tend to break down faster than lingual braces. Also the traditional metal braces do not take longer time to get installed than lingual braces. In case of an in-line treatment, the orthodontist has to take longer steps to install it as there are lesser spaces for him to work within. In these cases, the orthodontist needs to apply pressure over a long period of time till the post treatment jaw gets used to the pressure.

However, both lingual braces cost much less than invisalign. There are many reasons for this like traditional braces cost around $1500 while invisalign is much more expensive. Moreover with the different brands of invisalign, it is hard to differentiate which brand is best for your treatment. In fact most people have mixed feelings about both invisalign and traditional braces. Many do not want to get braces at all, but some do prefer braces. Hence there are many people who prefer lingual appliances when they go in for teeth alignment treatment.

Therefore in case you want to get braces to correct the alignment of your teeth and save on costs, then it is advisable that you look into the option of invisalign. The dentist will apply a local anesthetic and start putting the wires and brackets around the teeth using an ultrasonic method. After the procedure is complete, the patient will be able to see how effective the braces have been through an invisible shield and can go back to their daily lives as if nothing had happened.
